As they began a new chapter together, the clients saw this home as an opportunity to create something entirely their own. One had long envisioned living in a contemporary space, while the other—having always lived in more traditional homes—was ready to embrace a fresh, modern perspective. Equally important was a streamlined process; they wanted a thoughtful transformation without an extended timeline.
Design Approach
To prioritize efficiency without compromising design integrity, we chose to renovate the existing structure rather than pursue a full rebuild. The plan was reimagined to support simple, comfortable living, with an emphasis on clarity and function.
We oriented the primary living spaces to capture water views throughout the home, while consolidating utility areas—including the powder room—into a compact, functional core at the front of the house between the garage and entry.
Within an open plan, we introduced subtle spatial definition through variations in ceiling height and material transitions. This approach creates a sense of separation and rhythm while maintaining the openness and flow essential to contemporary living.
