Creek View Renovation

Client Insight

The homeowners wanted their main living spaces to better support both everyday life and entertaining, while fully embracing the natural setting behind the home. Despite a strong connection to Mill Creek, the existing layout—defined by decorative columns, low walls, and segmented rooms—felt dark, closed off, and disconnected from the view. They were looking for a more open, functional environment that would enhance flow, improve service spaces, and create a stronger visual relationship to the outdoors.

Design Approach

The design focused on opening the home both structurally and visually to maximize light, connectivity, and views. Key architectural interventions included the introduction of double-height, floor-to-ceiling windows along the rear façade and the removal of interior structural columns, replaced with steel beams to create uninterrupted sight lines between the foyer, living room, and kitchen. Service areas were reimagined, with a reconfigured mudroom and laundry space positioned to better support daily use. Throughout the home, updated finishes and furnishings were used in place of walls and columns to define space, resulting in a more cohesive, contemporary interior that promotes flow and frames the surrounding landscape as the focal point.
